Riding a portion of the Illinois Central's "Mainline of Mid-America" is truly one of the highlights at Mendota's Railroad
Crossing Days in June. A nice stretch of track still remains in Mendota along with a siding and the old Illinois Central Freight
hse built in 1854. A portion of the old Union Depot is still standing, built in 1887, and is home to the Railroad museum and
Amtrak station.
There is alot of history to be told of them old rails!
